The scope for nursing in the NHS is huge. In addition to a hospital setting, an NHS nurse can also work in a GP surgery, in the field as a district nurse, in schools, any government institution or in occupational health. The initial requirement for an NHS nurse is a degree in nursing, called a pre-reg programme; this qualification allows registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).  Nursing is an incredibly rewarding career and there are many levels of entry.
